HOCKEY
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. On Saturday the semi-final of the Bannin Shield knock-out competition was played when Carterton met Wesley and Hastwells met Dalefield. The Carterton and Wesley match was played at Lansdowne, and on a hard and fast ground Carterton were too strong for the local team, and won by 7/3. The Hastwell and Dalefield match was staged at Carterton, Hastwell gaining the advantage by 3/0. JUNIOR FINAL. The. final match in the junior knockout competition was played at Carterton between Dalefield and High School A. Dalefield won by 2/1. Their winning goal was scored by a High School player, who accidentally kicked the ball into the net. SENIOR LADIES. Playing on the Greytown grounds, the home team was successful in its first match as holders of the Kia Toa challenge cup, by defeating Old Girls by 1/0. On Saturday the Excelsior team (Masterton) played the return match with the Karori ladies at Wellington, winning by 5/0. Miss J. Harding (4) and N. Page goaled for the winners. After the game the Masterton ladies were the guests of the Karori ladies to tea, and later to a dance given in their honour. *
