A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The president, Mr W. James, presided over a fair attendance at a meeting of tire Masterton A. and P. Association, held last night. The offer of the Masterton Savage Club to control the weight-judging competition at the Jubilee Show was accepted with thanks. Sir William Perry, Messrs P. Bortliwick, J. M. James, F. C. Stowell and P. R. Welch were appointed a committee to confer with representatives of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society regarding arrangements for the export lamb competition for the Meat Producers’ Board Shield.

A proposal that the silk championship ribbons at the Show be replaced by woollen ribbons was mentioned, and it was decided that a sample of the woollen ribbons be submitted at the next meeting. It was stated that woollen championship ribbons were in general use at shows in Australia.

A letter was received from the Wairarapa Provincial Council of Young Farmers’ Clubs, expressing thanks to the association for assistance and the use of the Showgrounds during the past year. The Clydesdale Horse Society was thanked for a donation of £25 for additional prize money at the Jubilee Show. In reply to an invitation extended to the Governor-General, Lord Galway, to attend the Jubilee Show, the Private Secretary to His Excellency wrote stating that it was too early as yet to give a definite reply. It was suggested that the association bring the. matter up again in January. Meat and Wool, Ltd., forwarded a handsome silver cup for the best purebred sheep exhibited at the Jubilee Show. The cup was accepted with thanks. The secretary (Mr R. H. Williams) reported that a large number of cups and medals were being donated as special prizes for the Jubilee Show.
