PRICE OF CEMENT
FURTHER INVESTIGATION. A statement that he is not entirely satisfied with the position in regard to tip price of cement is made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, in a communication received by the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. At the recent Dominion conference of the union a remit was carried urging that steps' be taken to have tlio cost of cement to primary producers reduced. To this remit Mr Sullivan has replied as follows:—“The Government has had this matter before it for some considerable time, and as a result of investigation and negotiation with the companies, a reduction in price has been arranged. lam not entirely satisfied with the position, and for this reason I have arranged to* have the whole question reviewed after the present scale of charges has been in operation for six months. This period will expire at the end of December, when a further investigation will be made.”
