THEFT OF CYCLES
CHINESE SENT TO GAOL. PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. William Joseph Gee, alias Bain, a lialf-caste Chinese, aged 32, who escaped from the local police lock-up on 2ud August, pleaded guilty to this charge and also to two charges of the theft of cycles, and was sentenced to one month for each offence, the terms to be concurrent. A detective said that accused had a long list of convictions and was awaiting sentence at Wellington on four charges of breaking and entering and theft. The Magistrate said accused would be lucky if the Supreme Court did not declare him an habitual criminal. (P.A.)
