A PROGRESSIVE CONCERN.
The Wairarapa Automobile Association is one of the most progressive organisations of its kind in the Dominion, giving excellent service to motorists in general and its, own members in particular. The management of its affairs has been carried out on business lines that have impressed with their thoroughness. There is, however, further scope for useful activities. The Association could exercise considerable influence for good in regard to improving the conditions of the roads of the Wairarapa. It could tactfully institute a policy which would appeal, to members, who in turn could impress upon other motorists the need for more care being exercised when travelling over the roads in the district. It does not matter whether the other motorist, the cyclist or the pedestrian is in the wrong, there is a duty upon all motorists—and particularly those who are members of an automobile association—to take such precautions as mav prevent an accident, even when the “other fellow” is entirely in the. wrong. Automobile Association propaganda relative to the danger from drunken drivers would also contribute in a considerable degree to making our roads safer for all.
