RANFURLY SHIELD MATCH. SNOW IN DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, Friday. Snow is falling fairly steadily tonight, and the weather prospects for tomorrow’s Ranfurly Shield match between Otago and Southland are unpromising. Heavy snow has fallen in country districts, and whereas many hundreds of cars were expected in Dunedin to-morrow from all quarters, from present appearances it would appear that practically all roads will be impassable as far as motor traffic is concerned. —(P-A.) CROWDED SPECIAL TRAINS. INVERCARGILL, Friday. Every seat was taken on the two special trains which left this evening, while the usual afternoon express which carried the Southland team was also well filled. The four special trains for to-morrow have been fully booked at the Invercargill booking office. It is expected that nearly 4000 will travel by rail. —(P.A.) SCHOOL GAME, WAIRARAPA v. NAPIER. The Wairaarpa High School first fifteen were defeated on the High School ground yesterday afternoon by the Napier. Boys’ High School by 17 points to nil. Napier had matters all their own way in the first spell, and held a 14/0 lead at the interval. Fine play by the. Wairarapa forwards, however, resulted in play being kept tighter in the second spell, when the visitors only added another unconverted try to their tally. Rain fell throughout. For Napier, tries were scored by Brown, McDonald, Wepa, Coutts and Cawston, Broughton converting one. Mr F. Dean was the referee.
