BRADFORD TOPS DEARER. LONDON, Thursday. In the Bradford tops market, Merinos are dearer, with no quotable change in crossbreds. There is a fair home and export business, and yarns are firmer, with a hardening tendency. Latest quotations compare with those previously cabled as follows: —
LONDON SALES CLOSED. IMPROVED PRICES. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from London, dated 17th July:— The auctions closed here to-day with a good tone and good general competition, including Russia. The total quantity offered was 84,090, sold 72,000, carried forward 45,000, including 31,000 from New Zealand. Compared with the opening rates, we quote: — Greasy Merino, best, Id lb. higher. Greasy Merino, aver., Id lb. higher. Fine Ibreds, 50/56, unchanged. ' Extra fine xbreds, 48/50, Id to fd lb. higher. Fine xbreds, .46/48, Id to fd lb. higher/ - ■*>“*, tiihMedium xbreds, 44/46, Id to fd lb. higher. Coarse higher. ' 1 Low xbreds, 36/40, Id to fd lb. higher. Slipe wools generally Id per lb. higher.
