THE OPERA HOUSE.

(The Editor.) Sir, —Recently a great deal of discussion has arisen over the fate of the Opera House. Alany of us know that the Trust Lands Trust has been doing everything possible to restore the building. The Trust even approached the Government for a loan for the purpose of restoring the Opera House. It seems, however, as though this application is doomed to failure, so now it is up to the' people of the town to come forward with practical suggestions for the purpose of raising funds. Alany suggestions are already to hand with reference to community singing and carnivals —all very good, no doubt, but the question is this: If these particular forms of entertainment are brought about, will local residents give their whole-hearted support to them? There have been many attempts made in the past to organise such functions, but what happens? They go flop! So I, as one who has been following with interest the fate of the Opera House, would appeal to residents of the town who are interested in the restoration of the Opera House to give their wholehearted support to any function that may be arranged.—l am, etc., AIUSIC LOADER.
