WRESTLING
McCREADY DEFEATS ELLIOTT. King Elliott, the ex-Wanganui policeman, surprised the crowd in the State Theatre, Carterton, last night by fully extending the unbeaten Earl McCready in an eight rounds professional wrestling contest. Elliott was well ahead on points when the men got to work in the last round, but McCready decided the issue when he took a fall with a body press following a series of dumps. It was dour, .solid wrestling. Mr J. Fearon was the referee.
The amateur preliminaries, which provided first-class entertainment, resulted as, follow: G. Tildesley (.Carterton), 12.0, beat I. Noble (Featlierston) 11.6, with straight falls; Nielsen (Eketahuna) 11.0 drew with Wendon (Featlierston) 10.2; Fafeita (Eketahuna) 8.6 beat Jackson (Masterton) 8.4 on points; Sutherland (Masterton) 11.12 beat Wilkin (Eketahuna) 12.0 on points.
