MAORI HUI
GATHERING AT WAITARA. NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. Tlio chief events of the big Maori hui at Waitara to-day were a Rugby match between the Wanganui and Taranaki Maori representatives, which created tremendous excitement and was won by Taranaki 18/9. A quarter of an hour before time, Taranaki was a point behind and a spectacular finish was staged. Points were added in quick succession to the accompaniment of wild demonstrations on the sidelines.. ■ The Maori hockey tournament, in which six hundred players are engaged, was continued on the New Plymouth Aerodrome. A large number of matches have been played but section play has not yet concluded. —(P.A.)
