TRUST LANDS MATTERS.
(The Editor.) Sir, —In Mr Jones’ letter re Trust matters in Saturday’s “Daily Times,’’ he states that since the Technical School and High School have been established, the Technical School has had £6363 from the Trust and the High School £5700. Surely this statement is misleading. The total money given by the Trust to the High School and its pupils must be at least double this amount. As I stated in my last letter, the University grants alone, over a long period, would average about £4OO a year, besides capitation allowances, of which the Technical School has had none for years. Does the quoted Technical School amount include the building fund of about £I2OO at present held by the Secondary Education'Board, and which the Technical School is never likely to see unless it builds a new school? We must remember that the High School is only about half the age of the Technical institution.- • The figures may not be l easy to obtain at short notice, , but I think it would be only fair, on Mr Jones’ part, to try and publish the full and proper amounts before next election day.—l am, etc., “TEC.”
