MT. HOLDSWORTH VANDALS.
The vandalism which has taken place in connection with the Mt. Holdsworth Hut will earn the strong condemnation of all rightthinking people in Masterton. Such acts as have been committed at the hut for some considerable time past can only be the work of mentally unbalanced or vicious individuals. The Mount Holdsworth Committee has from time to time gone to considerable trouble and expense in providingreasonable comforts and conveniences at the Hut, only to find later that their efforts have been largely brought to nought by individuals with senseless and destructive inclinations. Those who are responsible for the wanton destruction of property on the mountain should, if caught, be placed in a mental hospital in the faint hope that their condition may become normal again. People who appreciate the work of the Mt. Holdsworth Committee are indignant regarding the acts of the vandals, and would doubtless be prepared to assist the committee in bringing the offenders to task. It is the duty of any person who has knowledge of those who were responsible for destroying property at the hut to either inform the committee or the police, so that action can be brought and a lesson given to the transgressors.
