S.M. COURT
SITTING AT MASTERTON. Mr 11. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at to-day’s sitting of the Masterton S.M. Court, when the following cases wero dealt with: — Norman Edward Dowsctt was charged with being the driver of a car permitted to be in Bannister Street after dark without lights. He was fined 5s and costs 10s. Donovan Glennie Riddiforcl was charged that at Carterton on 13th May he operated a trailer carrying a greater load than it was licensed to carry; also that the trailer was without brakes; also with operating a heavy motor vehicle carrying a greater load than the license allowed.
Fines of £2 and 10/- on the first charge, £1 and 10/- costs on the second charge,, and £2 and 10/- costs on the third charge were imposed. One month was allowed defendant to pay the amounts.
For not possessing drivers’ licenses fines Avere imposed as folloAvs: —Alfred Caselberg, a fine of 10/-, costs 10/-, and solicitor’s fee 10/6; Huia Arapuke Iloulbrooke, 10/- costs and 10/6 solicitor’s fee; Winifred Myrtle McCrae, 10/- costs, 10/6 solicitor’s fee; R. S. Passmore, 10/- costs, 10/6 solicitor’s fee; Wm. Noilson, 10/- costs, 10/6 solicitor’s fee. Tommie Rimono and Charles James O’Connell, for having ridden bicycles A\lthout lights, Avere fined 10/- and 10/eosts each.
Francis W. Heaven, for having driven an unlicensed motor ear, AA*as fined £3. costs 10/-, solicitor’s fee 10/6. Wm. George Alloway Avas charged Avith having driven a motor vehicle at. the intersection of Queen and Russell streets at a speed dangerous to the public; he ay ns also charged aalUi not having a driver’s license. Defendant Avns convicted for speeding and fined £l, costs 10/-, and £1 and 10/- eosts for possessing no drWcr’s license. For haAlng allowed two coavs and tAvo heifers to stray in High Street, A. White Avns fined £l, costs 10/-, solicitor’s fee £l/1/-. D. Donaldson Avas fined 10/-, costs 10/-, solicitor’s fee 10/6, for haA ring allowed a coav to stray on River Road.
Ken. McLellan. for disobedience of a maintenance order, arrears on Avhich Avere £36 to June, avor convicted and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as defendant pays £2O Avithin 7 days, and balance at 5/- per Aveek. Cyril Wm. Lovell, for disobedience. of a, maintenance order, arrears on Avhich were £ll/5/- up till June, avhs fined £l. Hannah Hensen applied to the Court for separation, maintenance and guardianship from Reginald Wm. Hensen. Mr T. Hart appeared for complainant and Mr R. R. Burridge for defendant. The application Avas dismissed.
