WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The chairman (Mr D. McGregor) presided over a full attendance of members at the meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council on Thursday. The treasurer’s statement showed a credit balance of £3588 13s. Accounts amounting to £lslß 0s 5d were passed. Last year’s estimates provided up to £2480 of credits, the treasurer stated, but actually the Council had used only £SBO of the credits. At next meeting, full statements and estimates will be considered. The chairman observed that they had come out very well for the year, and that councillors had reason to bo well satisfied.
The Automobile Association wrote asking if any signs were in - need of repair or any new signs were required. At the moment the Cou*gji did not know of any. The plan of Glenburn Road was submitted to the Council for approval ahd dedication, re the estate of the late Mr .E. V. Riddiford. The Council approved this plan and scaled and signed the plan and transfer. The Council‘’decided to fall in with the Borough" in regard to any Jubilee celebrations, the matter being left in the hands of the chairman.
The secretary of the Public Library wrote asking for some assistance in the rebuilding of property damaged during the storm. The request' was held over till next meeting. The County staff will be paid for 6th May as a holiday in connection with the Jubilee celebrations.
The County Overseer was authorised to metal sundry Dalefield Riding roads while the crusher is working at the Waiohine.
