ESTIMATES FOR,’ YEAR. Under the estimates : -'for 1934-35, which were adopted by the Wairarapa Hospital Board yesterday, expenditure shows an increase of £1497. as compared with the expenditure. 6f last year. The amount to bp found- by lqeal body levies and 1 Government subsidy, combined is approximately >£1341 in excels of the amount so provided last year. Some details of the estimates for the several hospitals are given below:— MASTERTON. After providing for an average bed state of 95, the estimated expenditure for the year at the Masterton Hospital amounts to £14,912. Estimated receipts from all sources amount to £3862, leaving a. net estimated deficiency of £ll,050. The estimated capital expenditure, which includes £617 for a sterilising annext to Ward 3, £lB2 for equipment, and £2OO for a refrigerator unit, amounts to £1026.

Social welfare expenditure is estimated at £2400. The estimated expenditure for sanatoria and other hospital fees amounts to £2OO and the receipts to £450, leaving an estimated deficiency of £1550. Items set down under head office expenditure are estimated ta £3OOB/10/-. Of this sum £1747 is for administration, £245 interest on loans and overdraft, £9O for the District Nurse, Eketalmna, and £283/10/- for the Pongaroa Hospital Committee. The estimated receirffs from rents amount to £313, which with a refund of subsidy, left a net estimated deficiency of £2594/1/6. PAIIIATUA. After providing for a reorganised nursing staff and certain maintenance works the gross expenditure for the year at the Pahiatua Hospital is estimated at £3138. The principal item is salaries and wages £1560. The estimated receipts total £IOOO, leaving a net estimated deficiency of £2138. There fire no capital estimates, a proposed expenditure of £l5O for the sealing of the hospital drives being held over until next year, GREYTOWtf.

The gross expenditure t'Ol the year at the Greytdwil Hospital, after providing for ail services, is estimated at £0683. Estimated receipts total £2300. leaving a net estimated deficiency of £4383. No capital works were proposed.
