ADDINGTON PRICES,

CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. To-day’s Addington market was a ‘‘double” one, in view of the holiday next week. There was a good allround sale, fat sheep recprding a sharp rise for a small entry. Store lambs: An excellent sale for fine-woolled lambs, particularly ewe, there being an advance of Is a head. Best ewe lambs made to 23s 3d. Store sheep: A keen sale for good ewes, previous rates being fully maintained. Best two-tootli ewes made to 30s Id, good sound-mouthed ewes to 19s 9d, good 4-year Romney to 22s 6d, and extra good *2-tooth tliree-quarterbred to 29s 6d. Pat lambs: A sale at full schedule rates of GAd to 6Jd for firsts, and 6d to GJd for seconds. Pat sheep: As a result values rose, freezing ewes being better by Is a head, wethers being up to Is, and butchers’ ewes by 2s. Best wethers made to 29s 4d, prime medium weight 24s 6d to 26s Id, ordinary 20s to 24s Id, light 15s to 19s 6d; extra prime ewes to 26s 4d, prime 21s Od to 24s Id, prime medium weight 18s to 21s Id, light and ordinary 11s to 17s.

Pat cattle: For good steers and heifers, which were in short supply, there was an improvement of 15s a head. Best beef made from 23s 1 to 26s a 1001 b., other classes ranging from 14s to 20s. Extra heavy prime steers made to £l2 2s 6d, prime heavy £9 to £ll, prime medium weight £8 to £9 10s, ordinary £4 15s to £7 ss; extra prime heifers to £8 12s 6d; prime, £5 5s to £7, ordinary £3 10s to £4 10s, light to £3 ss; extra prime cows, to £8 7s 6d, prime £4 10s to £6 10s; ordinary, £2 15s to £3 15s; light and aged, £1 to £2 10s. MASTERTON SALE

Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We offered a small yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle to a good attendance. With the exception of one line of dairy heifers a total clearance was effected under the hammer at the following prices:— Sheep: Ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, to 20s. Cattle: 3-year steers, to £5; 24-year do., to £4 12s; 18-months do., to £3 Ids; yearling do., to £2 11s; P.A. heifers, 28s to 30s; fat cows, to £4 18s; forward cows, to £2 10s; store cows, to 245; Hereford cows with P.A. calves, to £3 6s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on the Masterton sale as follows: —A small entry of sheep and a good yarding of cattle were submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Competition was keen, a clearance being effected at satisfactory prices. The following is the range of prices:—P.M. ewes, r.w. S.D., 16s; 2-tooth wethers, 17s 3d; 18-months P.A. steers, £4 13s, £4 4s to £3 2s; 18month P.A. heifers, £3 to £1 14s; 24year P.A. heifers, £3 os; do., S.II. heifers, £2; fat heifers, £4 6s; fat cows, £4 15s; store cows, 22s to 27s 6d; fat bullock, £9 10s; forward bullocks, £4 10s. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly sale yesterday, when they yarded 750 sheep, 61 head of cattle and 28 pigs to the usual attendance. Fat sheep remained at late rates, while the w.f. lambs sold a little better. Dairy cattle were in poor demand, while stores sold at recent values. Pigs were in better demand. Pigs: Light porkers, 20s; slips, 10s, 11s to 14s Gd; weaners, 9s to 10s.

HORSE SALE.

The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report having held a very successful horse, sale yesterday, when they offered 92 horses of all classes to a large attendance. With the exception of a few good hacks th|. yarding consisted of poor quality, out of the whole yarding they were su5C eessful in disposing of 58 horses at satisfactory prices, some of the hacks selling at up to £2O. The following were the prices:—Draughts: 1 7-year gelding, £42; 1 7-year mare, £4l; 1 6year gelding, £3B; 1 aged mare, £35; 1 8-vear gelding, £3O; 1 7-year gelding, £29; 1 3-year black colt, £3l; 1 aged mare, £22 10s; other aged geldings, £ls, £lB to £2O. Spring carters: 1 3-year marc, £33; 1 7-year mare, £25; 1 aged gelding, £22 10s; 1 8-year gelding, £2l; other aged geldings, £l3 10s, £l4 to £l6.
