TOURNAMENT ARRANGED. The Wairarapa Boxing Association will open the season in May with a tournament in which both local and visiting competitors will take part. It has been decided to. approach all. Wairarapa clubs with a view to their representation at the tournament,, and also to arrange for a number of star boxers from outside the district to be matched with the best local lads.. As,., many novices as possible 'will be brought out, so as to give the neweom-. ers every opportunity to show their capabilities, especially as later in the season a selection will be made' of boxers to represent Wairarapa at tlie - New Zealand tournament. The reports of trainers indicate that some very fine new competitors will be seen this season, and last- year’s boxers are said to' be getting into condition early, ready for the fray. It is hoped to hold a series of tournaments at the Dixon Street Hall throughout the season. Messrs W. Brady, S. Pragncll and J. Bradbury were appointed a matching committee, to whom competitors can apply for matches.
