KURIPUNI CHURCH

WELCOME SOCIAL.

A welcome social was tendered niglit to the new Minister of the Kuripuni Methodist Church, the Kev. \\. McDonald and Mrs McDonald and family. Mr McDonald commenced his ministry on Sunday last, taking the morning sorvice at Kuripuni and the evening service at Solway. The De\. G. F. Stockwell, the Superintendent ot the Circuit, was in the chair,_ and a very happy and enjoyable social was held. Words of welcome were spoken by the chairman, who urged the congregation to give their minister loyal support; by the Senior Circuit Stcwaic (Mr F. G. Rutter), Mr Asher, who spoke on behalf of the local preachers; Mr Jones, senior, for the Kuripuni congregation, Mr Eric Steerc foi ie young men’s Bible Class' and by Miss Phyllis Jansen, who in a deliglitfu little speech, welcomed Mr and Mrs McDonald, on behalf of the Young Women’s Bible Class. _ A welcome was also given by the chairman to the Rev. C. Aker, Mrs Aker and their son, who were visiting Kuripuni. Tho Misses Evelyn Jones and Doreen Jamieson made a happy and much appreciated contribution to the enjoyment of the meeting by the singing of several songs and a choice duet. A hearty vote of thanks to singers and speakers brought the meeting to a close, after which the whole congregation remained for supper. Mr McDonald has made a very promising commencement in , his new sphere.
