MEETING AT CARTERTON. (Special to “Daily Times.”) A meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa and East. Coast P. and A. Society was held on Saturday, the president (Mr C. Reynolds) occupying the chair. The treasurer reported that the bank overdraft was £907 4s 7d. Accounts amounting to £l4B 4s 8d were passed. Mr Reynolds said the balance sheet, to be presented at the annual meeting next month, was most satisfactory. Had it not been for storm damage, the recent purchase of sections and payments for other improvements, the society would have had a credit balance. The policy of going ahead and improving the grounds had been justified. The secretary of the Ahiaruhc-Pona-talii Sports Club wrote advising that the proceeds from the sports were £4O. Any further surplus would bo handed over in January, 193 G. He also . expressed thanks for the friendly attitude of the P. and A. Committee to the club. A letter was received from Messrs Thomas Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., reporting on the sale of pigs, both porkers and baconers. Some of the prices were as low as 34d per lb. This aroused considerable discussion, and the hope was expressed that the new Dairy Board would improve matters. Working bees held recently _ have been very successful. Originally it was proposed to have one working bee, but it was reported that four had been held | during tho month. Gratitude was ex* I pressed to members who had participated. It was stated that practically all fencing had been completed, and the society had been saved a considerable outlay. The next working bee will be held on Wednesday, 24th April, the work to be done being urgent, as football will soon be commencing. It was decided to hold the annual mooting on Saturday, 11th May.
