CARTERTON SALE,
The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive- Distributing Co., Ltd., report on their Carterton sale as follows: —We had a good entry of sheep, which were submitted to a large attendance, and all sheep met keen competition, resulting in a good sale and a total clearance. The following were the prices:— Good b.f. lambs, 15s 6d, 16s 7d to 17s Id; medium b.f. lambs, 10s 3d, 11s 6d to 13s; cull lambs, 5s 9d, 6s 3d to 7s 6d; small ewe lambs, 12s; wether lambs, 9s 6d to 10s; s.m. ewes, 13s, 14s to 15s Id; cull ewes, 4s Id to 6s; 2-tooth wethers, 20s.
Messrs Wriglit, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: —At the Carterton sale yesterday we offered a good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs to a large attendance. Sheep again sold well at late rates, and with the exception of one or two small pens of lambs our entry of 1642 head sold readily under the hammer. Several pens of springing cows were offered, but the enquiry for this class of cattle was limited. A yarding of 236 pigs was offered, and owing to the large entry the prices were slightly easier than those obtained at our last weeks sale. The following is a range of prices:—Sheep: Two-tootli ewes, 16s to 16s 6d; f.m. ewes, 13s 2d to 15s 2d; 4 and 6-tooth ewes, to 17s; fat ewes, 16s 6d to 16s 8d; fat maiden ewes, to 24s Id; b.f. lambs, 13s 6d to 14s lOd; fat lambs, 16s 9d to 23s 6d; 2tooth wethers, 16s Od to 18s 3d; fat wethers, 23s 6d to- 24s sd. Cattle: Springing heifers, to £2 15s; springing cows, to £3 12s 6d; fat cows, £2 10s to £3 10s; potter bulls, to £2 10s; potter cows, to £l. Pigs: Wcaners, light. 5s 6d to 7s; wcaners, 8s to 11s 6d; slips, to 13s 6d; porkers, 22s 6d to 28s; light baeoners, £2 Is; breeding sows, from £2 to £3 7s 6d.
