METHODIST CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD. The first meeting for the year 1935 of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held in the schoolroom. The meeting was presided over by Mrs G. F. Stockwell. There was a good attendance of members. Apologies-for absence were received from Mesdames Donald, Thomas and Coddington, and Misses Donald and Jackson.

Reference was made to Mrs David Donald having celebrated her 85th birthday, and it was decided to send greetings to her. It was decided to send a message to Mrs A. Thomas, expressing the best wishes of the members for a speedy recovery from her illness. It was reported that the 1934 “Pyramid Card” scheme had proved a great success. The treasurer (Mrs J. Handyside) reported that £76 14s 3d had been collected.

A letter of thanks was received from the Church Trustees for the donation of £BO to Trust funds. It was decided to hold the next meeting on 11th March, when the potato competition will bo judged. Arrangements were made to hold a garden party in March. It was decided to have a competition for articles made from material not exceeding the value of a shilling, the articles to be given to the work stall. Afternoon tea was supplied by the members.
