SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

WELLINGTON, SALE. At the sale of sheepskins and hides held yesterday by the Wellington brokers, competition was keen and animated. Sheepskins were very firm and in some cases advanced Id to -Id a lb.

Hides, with the exception of lightweights, although keenly sought after, wore a shade easier than last sale. Calfskins and kip sold well, and prices for these were a halfpenny dearer. Tallow also was in keen demand, prices being in seller’ favour to the extent of 1/- a ewt.
