FARMER FOUND DEAD
TRAGEDY AT WEST TARATAHI. A West Taratahi dairy farmer named Hugh Thomas Carswell, 40 years of age, was found dead in his garden at about six o’clock last evening, with the top of his head blown off. A .303 rifle was lying alongside the body. He was a married man but had no family and saw service in the Great War. It is understood that he left a note. ( : FINANCIAL WORRY. This Day. An inquest into the death of Hugh Thomas Carswell was held at his late residence, seven miles from Carterton, this morning, before the Coroner (Mr E. G. Eton).
After hearing the evidence, JLverdict was returned of suicide by inlPns of a gunshot wound, due to financial worrv. —(P.A.)
