TRANSFER OF SAAR
GERMANS TAKE OVER. PARIS, Tuesday. The transfer of the Saar from French to German Customs officers was accomplished at midnight. It was preceded by a remarkable eleventh-hour increase in the buying and hoarding of French goods, owing to Saarlanders’ fears of scarcity and high prices after the inauguration of German rule. The agreement which has been signed handing over the Sar to Germany provides for:—■ 1. The cession of the mines from Prance to Germany.
2. Insurance of French private citizens and all workmen in the Saar. 3. The transfer of the administration to Germany.
