ENGLAND v. WEST INDIES.
A DRAWN GAME.

Safety was still the keynote of the batting on the final day of the third cricket test, England v. West Indies. The weather was fine and the wicket easy. After 160 runs had been made for the loss of six wickets, England’s second innings was declared closed. The West Indies replied with 104 for five wickets, the match being ‘drawn. SHEFFIELD SHIELD. SYDNEY, Tuesday. At Adelaide, in the Sheffield Shield match, in the first innings of which both sides made 200, Victoria, in their second innings, made 308 (O’Brien 55, Rigg 56, Darling 53, Scaife 56, Barnett 36, Ebeling 35, Tobin one for 39, Collins 2 for 82, Grimmett 3 for 98, Lee 2 for 54). South Australia, who made 415 in their second innings, won by 107 runs. This is the only defeat suffered by the. Sheffield Shield winners in the series. WIN FOR NEW SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, Tuesday: At Brisbane, Queensland, after making 261 in their first innings, in their second made 281 (Bensted 71, Hansen 25, Levy 35, Gilbert 34 not out, Tlieak 3 for 54, Chilvers 6 for 124). New South Wales, who made 233 and 337, won by 28 runs. TOWN- v. COUNTRY MATCH. The following Wairarapa. players have been nominated by the sole selector, Mr H. B. Massey, for selection as members of the Country team to play Town at Wellington on Ist, 2nd and 4th March: —K. C. Montgomery (Old Boys), W. Peterson (Red Star), A. Lang (Old Boys), R. Sherratt (Old Boys). H. B. Massey (High School), P. D. Wilson and B. Eccles (Martinborough) were not available.
