CHILD’S DEATH

FATALITY NEAR HASTINGS. HASTINGS, Monday. The twenty-months-old son of Mr George Frederick Reeves, - carrier, of Haumoana, near Hastings, was fatally injured on Sunday through being caught under one of the wheels of a lorry which Mr Reeves was moving about on the lawn at the back of his house.

Mr Reeves had been washing and cleaning his lorry. The child) when he last noticed him, was playing at a chopping block a few yards away. Mr Reeves had occasion to move the vehicle, and did not suspect that the child had come anywhere near. Ho felt a bump as the vehicle moved, and on getting out he saw the little boy lying under the near-side back -wheel.

The child Avas taken to the Hastings Memorial Hospital, and died there a little while after admittance. —(P.A.)
