DARING ESCAPE
OF AMERICAN CONVICTS. WARDER KILLED. NEW Monday. A message from Granite (Oklahoma) states that 21 long-term convicts effected a daring escape from the State Reformatory there while a group of visitors, including women and children, were inspecting the institution. All the escapees were equipped with smuggled pistols, arid, partially using the visitors as a shield, they forced the keepers to open the gate. ■ In an exchange of fire, one of the keepers was killed and three convicts were wounded and captured. The remainder made their escape in stolen automobiles.
