“NO JUSTIFICATION.” KIRKWOOD’S ACCUSATION. LONDON, Friday. Officials of the Irish Golfing Union strongly resent Kirkwood’s accusation that The steward twice trod on his ball. The committee declined to take action, considering that there was no ground. , Mr Fitzsimmons, secretary of tne championships committee, says: It is a grave reflection, on the sportsmanship of Irish golfers. We investigated the matter, and are satisfied there is no foundation for the accusation. Kirkwood replies: I think the officials owe me an apology. I will never again play in the Irish championship. EASTERBROOK WINS. LONDON, Friday. In the Irish open golf championship, Easterbroolr, with 284, was first, and J. A. Broivn, an amateur of the \V aterford Club, 291, second. The others include Davies (Wallasey), 292; R. Whitcomb e, 297; Kirkwood and Padgliam, 299; Brews and Alliss, 302. Easterbrook played a final round of 68, equalling the record of Brown, the Irish champion, established m the third round.
