MURDER CHARGE
SHOOTING OF OLD MAN. VERDICT AT INQUEST. SYDNEY, Friday. At Carcoar to-day the coroner found that John Rvan died of haemorrhage from a bullet Avound in .the chest, feloniously and maliciously inflicted at Barry on 7th June by Mrs Charlotte FoAvler. He committed her for trial on a charge of murder. The coroner said he could not declare Avhat Avas the motive for the killing, and AA r ould not hazard a guess at it, but there Avere certain features in the eA 7idence and movements of a certain person that could not be dismissed. The inquest lasted nine days. John Ryan, aged 79, a retired farmer, Avas found shot at Barry, in the Blayney district. Ryan Avas found dead in a sitting posture in an armchair in the isolated cottage Avhere he lived by himself on a son’s property. The bullet Avound in Ryan’s head disclosed that he Avas shot‘at fairly close range, possibly Avhile asleep in front of a fire. DetectiA r es later arrested Charlotte FoAA T ler, aged 58, a married Avoman, on a charge of having committed the crime.
