The story, dealing Avith the life and lo\-es of Sweden’s famous queen, is primarily historical. It is a picture based authentically upon CA'ents and customs of the time, and presents elaborate historical which, for their beauty and accuracy, have seldom been equalled. The sroty deals Avith Christina, Avho, after being reared as a man and croAvned King of Sweden, finds tempestuous loA 7 e through the visit to her court of John Gilbert, Avho portrays the authentic role of Ambassador Antonio Dimintelli of Spain. Their open love affair incenses the nation against Christina, and her people repeatedly clamour for her marriage to Prince Charles, one of her countrymen. She is finally forced to expel her lover from the country, but abdicates her throne immediately afterwards in favour of Prince Charles, and flees in pursuit of Antonio—to find him slain in a duel AA’ith her Lord Treasurer. The performance of Garbo is undoubtedly the "finest of her career, and Gilbert maintains and revives that force so evident in his earlier pictures. lan Keith, LeAvis Stone, Elizabeth Young, C. At the special matinee for children in the afternoon, the programme will include a Mickey Mouse cartoon and the latest episode of a serial. “Cleaning Up”, deals with the adventures of one Tony, the son of a lord, who decides to Avork for his living, instead of marrying an heiress. He gets a job as a salesman for the Mop-I-Tup Vacuum Cleaner Company, and the amusing complications Aviiich arise can be imagined. Starred Avith George Gee is Betty Astell, the beautiful young English film star, Dave Burnaby, the famous cooptimist, Barbara Gott and Muriel George. As a vacuum cleaner salesman, Tony has chequered experiences, but -when he AA r anders into the back-stage area of a theatre, demonstrations Avhich had been a commercial frost attain a neAV value from the point of vieAV of public entertainment.
