ROUGH WEATHER

SHIPPING HELD UP.

AUCKLAND, Friday.

Bitterly cold winds, accompanied in various places by snow, hail and rain were experienced throughout the Auckland Province to-day. The boisterous westerly weather which commenced on Tuesday continued, causing high seas on the west coast and interfering with shipping. The conditions on Waitemata Harbour, however, were not very rough. Several coastal vessels are barbound at Oneliunga.—(P.A.)

RIVERS IN FLOOD. iNVERCARGILL, Friday. Following four days stormy weather, with a good deal of rain and some sleet, Southland rivers and creeks are very high. At the iron bridge on the Invercar-gill-Riverton Highway a low-lying part of the road is under water and is impassable. No other serious flooding has occurred.—(P.A.)
