SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

WELLINGTON PRICES. The fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow was held yesterday by the combined Wellington brokers. The demand for all grades of dry sheepskins was keen, but the recent easing recorded in the London wool market was reflected at the sale, values declining by 4d to fd per lb. Salted skins, of which there was a fair offering, sold at prices on a par with late rates.

A fair offering of hides was submitted, competition generally being keen. Heavies sold on a par, medium and lights were |d to 3-8 d lower. Yearling and kip were generally on a par, while any well-conditioned lines of calfskins met a ready market at slightly better prices than last sale’s rates.
