RIFLE SHOOTING

MASTERTON-OPAKI CLUB. There was a good muster of members of the Mastcrton-Opaki Rifle Club on Saturday afternoon, when a trophy competition took place. This consisted of 7 shots, with 2 optional siglitcrs, at the 300, 500, 800 and 900 yards ranges. As a cold southerly wind was blowing all the afternoon, the scoring was remarkably high. It is just a question as to what the scores would have been had the weather been more pleasant. At the final count-up, It. A. Wilton and W. N. Hummer tied for first place with a score of 136 points each off the rifle out of a possible 140. Pride of place went to R. A. Wilton on the count back, W. N. Masefield was in third place.
