DAVIS CUP COMPETITION. ENGLAND FAVOURED. NEW YORK, Friday. Basing his predictions on what he jokingly calls his "great theory of ( probabilities,” Jean Borotra, the French tennis player, said on Thursday: "England has 50 chances out of 100 to retain the Davis Cup, the United States 25, Australia 15, France 5, and Japan 5.” Borotra places the United States over Australia because of its doubles strength. He revealed that ho and Brugnon would play in the Davis Cup doubles this year. Merlin and Boussus would take care of the singles. Borotra is here seeking his fifth United States indoor title.
