NEW ZEALAND BUTTER.

Tiie chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board stated at Dailnevirke this tveek that the Board was definitely' opposed to quotas. On the other hand, Britain has decided to specially protect her dairy farmers by restricting imports of butter from the Dominions into Britain. Had the Government of this Dominion framed its policy on the right lines, and not meddled with the exchange rate, the British farmer would not have been stirred up by British exporting interests. The farmer in England has had the position clearly put to him by those Avho had suffered through the increase in the exchange rate, and to-day he stands four-square against any outside competition which will interfere Avith his receiving full benefit for his labours. Bad marketing methods, sfipshod management and disloyalty have cost the dairy farmer of NeAV Zealand hundreds of thousands of pounds, and this loss Avill continue until practically the Avhole of those at present associated Avith the marketing of our dairy produce at Home are replaced by men with some training in business methods, who Avill make sensible efforts to right the position as far as the sale of our dairy produce in England is concerned.
