ATTACK ON MINISTER
SIR JOHN SIMON CRITICISED. LONDON, Thursday. The "Daily Hail” is demanding Sir John Simon’s complete retirement. It says: "No foreign (lovernment cares what Britain thinks, regarding her as an elderly female relegated to an armchair, yet Sir John Simon affects to believe that the Empire’s wisest policy is helplessness. He is one of the Ministers who muddied Britain into the Great War. What is there to prevent his muddling it into a fresh conflict? The Government must rid itself of the liability of his presence, if it is not to fall to pieces.”
