A London cable advises that the King gave an audience to Sir James Parr, New Zealand’s High Commissioner in London. Miss Ngaire Balfour, at a meeting of the Wairaraap Hospital Board today, was appointed honorary masseuse at the Greytown Hospital. A Fremantle cable states that Bishop Charles Webster Leadbeatter, head of the Liberal Catholic Church in Australia, died in hospital, aged 87. The Rotary Conference at New J|ft£ mouth yesterday unanimously electa Mr J. M. A. Ilott, of Wellington, the New Zealand District Governor for 1934-35. A Sydney cable states that Dr. Mowll, Archbishop-elect of Sydney, arrived yesterday and was officially welcomed. He will be enthroned on 13th March. At to-day’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board the chairman, Mr W. Fisher, extended a hearty welcome to Mrs W. H. Jackson on her return from a visit to the Homeland. Mr T. B. Clark, who has been appointed Superintendent of the Masterton Fire Brigade and is to take up that position on Ist April, paid a, visit to Masterton yesterday and met and conferred with the chairman of the Fire Board (Mr W. Candy). The death occurred at Dunedin yesterday of Mr James Dick, aged 79, managing director and founder of the Drapery Supply Association, known as ; the D.S.A.
