High tribute to the meinour of its secretary, ( the late Air D. Murr mf Kean, ■was paid by the council of New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association at the quarterly general meeting in Wellington last evening. In the words of one delegate, the attitude of every member present was that he had lost a personal friend. The death occurred at the Wellington Hospital yesterday of Mr Frederick Woodham, son of the late Mr and Airs E. Woodham, formerly well known residents of Alasterton. The funeral will arrive at the Alasterton Cemetery, where the interment will take place at 2.13 p.m. to-morrow (Friday). The death at the age of <57 years of Air Dauiell Protheroe, the famous Welsh conductor and composer of choral music, is reported in a cablegram from Chicago. Air Protheroe was born at Ystradgvnlais, in the Swansea Valley, and went to the United States in 1SS(). He was the conductor of many glee clubs and choral societies in the Middle West, including the Chicago Welsh Alale Chorus. The deatli occurred at the Wellington Hospital of Airs Annie Allison Goodin, wife of Air -T. lh Goodin, of Pahiatua. The late Airs Goodin, who was 33 years of age, was a d|£fehter of Air and Airs E. Clapp, where she was well known, and her many friends were grieved to hear of her sudden passing. Besides her husband, a young family of four daughters are left. Air and Airs W. V hite, of Dixon Street, Alasterton, who will leave shortly on a visit to England, were last night the guests at a flag bridge party organised by Air and Airs V. E. Nicol, and hold at their residence in Chapel Street. A most enjoyable time was spent, the bridge winners being Airs W. White, Aliss Gladys Judd and Air W. E. Nicol. After a dainty supper had been partaken of, Mr W. E. Nicol, in a neat speech, wished Air and Airs V hite a pleasant trip to the Old Land and a safe return. On behalf of those present he handed Air and Airs White tokens of esteem and goodwill. The guests of the evening wgre accorded musical honours. Air White> suitably acknowledged the honour accorded Airs White and himself, and concluded with a number of humorous stories which brought forth roars of laughter. The singing of ‘‘Auld Lang Syne" concluded a most enjoyable evening
