AVONDALE RACES. AUCKLAND, This. Day. It was dull for the Avondale races. The track is in good order, despite the light shower before the first race. Results: — MAIDEN RACE. (First Division). 8/6 Star Artist * 2/2 Alpinius * J 1/1 Good Run ”••••• 3 Won by half a length; 2 5 lengths. Time, 1.26 4-5. (Second Division). 7/10 Bold Bid * 4/4 King Musk " 9/9 Expectancy 3 Won by a head; 11 lengths. Time, The scratchings were Lady Pandora and Aubretia. TURF NOTES. The champion jockey, Gordon Richards, rode five consecutive winners at the Newmarket race meeting on Thursday and his total for the season is now only 20 behind Fred Archer’s record of 246. The following horses have . been scratched at the Avondale meeting. Maiden Plate: Aubretia, Lady Pandora. Stakes: Tray Bit, Flaxen, Day Wind Only one more scratching is required to obviate divisions in the Maiden Plate.
