HUNT CLUB MEETING. WANGANUI, This Day. The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club races are being held to-day in fine weather with a moderate attendance, and with the track in /good order. Results: — HUNTERS’ STEEPLES. 1 Don Erma 1 Mangatapu 2 Also started: Danzof and Coma who both fell. Won by 100 yards. Time, 4.15 1-5. TURF NOTES. The annual report of the Wellington Racing Club discloses a net profit for the year of £297 19s sd, after making provision for depreciation amounting to £2500. The report attributes the satisfactory financial result very largely to the adoption of the win, and place system of betting.

The annual report of the Wairarapa Trotting Club states that since the reorganisation of the club two meetings have been held. The first. one was held on the Carterton Racing Club’s course, when the attendance was very disappointing owing to inclement wea-, ther in Wellington, and the net result was not a very encouraging beginning. The next meeting was held in March on the Hutt Park, and the club’s deepest thanks are due to the Wellington Trotting Club for the encouragement and help given so freely, and to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the President of the Trotting Conference, for having granted the change in venue of the meeting. The meeting was such a financial success that the existence of the club is now assured. It is intended to earmark £SOO for the formation of a training track. Arrangements have been made to hold the next meeting on the Carterton Racing Club’s course on 26th and 27th Decembei. The stewards during the year endeavoured to encourage the training of additional trotting horses in the Wairarapa, and with that end in view a sub-committee has been investigating the possibility of launching a practical scheme to encourage district owners to place hoises in training.
