NEW YORK, Friday. It is learned that the United States Tennis Association is making an effort to secure the Australian Davis Cup team for an American modified tour, playing only national singles in New York, doubles at Boston, and an exhibition match at Chicago and at the Pacific South-west championships.

A Los Angeles message says that the Australian management has indicated that tho team will have had such a long playing season with its departure from Europe that it would like to return to Australia direct, and intimating that for that (reason it ( was refusing to play in Japan.
