FRUIT EMBARGO

LOSS TO AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, Thursday. A fruitgrowers' conference at Sydney passed a resolution asking the Federal Government . to make a further earnest endeavour to have the New Zealand embargo on Australia’s citrus fruit lifted. It was stated that .growers had already lost £300,000 as a result of the embargo. One of the speakers, Mr J. Lawson, said New Zealand at present was on the box seat and was flirting with America. Growers should be patient to wait and do their best to win the trade back. It was decided to ask the Government to provide a bounty in the shape of a guarantee against loss up to Sydney parity at date of shipment.
