SWIMMING
INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS. Repreesntatives of five secondary and five primary schools took part yesterday .in inter-school swimming and diving events. The gathering, which was held at the Wairarapa High School baths in fine, sunny weather, was organised by Mrs M. Principal of St. Matthew’s Collegiate School for Girls, and proved very successful. The standard of performance throughout was high, particularly in the diving events. The fixture was the first of its kind held in Masterton. The results of the events are as follow': — (Secondary.—Relay Race: St. Matthew’s Collegiate School and Solway College, equal, 1; Wairarapa High School, 3. Diving.—High School, 44 points, 1; Solway College, 43 points, 2: St. Matthew’s College, 42 points, 3; St. Bride’s Convent, 38 points, 4; Technical School, 36 points, 5. Primary Schools’ Relay Race. —Masterion West School, 1; St. Matthew’s Collegiate School, 2; Fernridge School, At the conclusion of the events, Mr 11. B. Tomlinson. Principal of the Wairarapa High School, thanked Mrs Cleghorn, on behalf of the other Principals, for inaugurating the competition. It was a very happy idea, and he trusted that in the future the events would be .held annually.
