TURF NOTES. All Supreme was scratched yesterday for all engagements at Ellerslie. Imamint was scratched for the Robinson Handicap. The Woodvillc District Jockey Club has approached the Racing Conference for permission to hold an extra day’s racing. Blacksmith and La Moderne have left Awapuni for Auckland. Alan McDonald will ride Blacksmith in,the Grafton Hurdles at Ellerslie, and with 10.5 to carry, the Arrowsmith gelding should go well. P. Atkins has been engaged to ride La Moderne in the King’s Plate and Great Northern Derby.

At the eleventh hour, it was decided that the form of Red Heckle did not justify his proposed trip north for the Manawatu and Wairarapa meetings. F. Christmas will now therefore go to Greymouth with his two three-year-old fillies, Rose Marie, by Arrowsmith from Rosevear, and the unnamed daughter of Arrowsmith and Campanula. Th'ey show some galloping ability on the tracks.

When at her best, Eager Rose is a, good mare up to a mile and! a quarter, especially when the going is firm. She has not done a great deal of racing recently, but, judging by her efforts at Te Awamutu on Saturday,, it will not be long before slie collects a stake. She ran a solid race in the Kihikihi Handicap, finishing second to All. Humbug, and later in the afternoon was a starter in the Te Awamutu Cup. She was never further back than third, and finished in that position. She should be harder to dispose of next time out.

Roy Reed will ride at Ellerslie on Monday, when his mounts will include Gay Crest in the Auckland Cup, and Sunny Sky in the Railway Handicap, while he will be on Gold Trail if she is started in the Christmas Handicap in preference to the Cup. Reed is also to ride Dole and Pegged Exchange at Ellerslie. On Tuesday and Thursday he will ride at the Alanawatu meeting.

One of the easiest, wins registered at Tei Awamutu on Saturday was that' of the Australian-bred King’s Knave in the Faterangi Handicap.. He did not have a good lot opposed to him, but the race was little more than a workout for the son of Comedy King. He was one of the quickest to begin, and before a furlong had been covered lie was lying in behind the leaders. Hit was lying in behind the leaders, Hit furlongs from home he took charge and was never .afterwards troubled. This horse has furnished out into a solidlooking sort and is likely to show up in good handicap company before the season is much further advanced. A. Cook has him in excellent condition at present, and he should be a good horse to follow at the Auckland meeting.

Jaloux in his work-out over a round of the tan trade at lE'ilerslie traversed the distance in time that has seldom been beaten. Jaloux was fourth with 7st. 21b in the New Zealand Cup of 1031, fifth in the Auckland Cup last Boxing Day with 7st. 21b, and fourth in the New Zealand Cup last month with 7st 1211). Prior to this year's race at Riccarton, ho had not raced for over three months. His effort on Tuesday suggests that lie is very fit now. Last season lie won the Summer Cup, one mile and a quarter, at Ellerslie, and was beaten by only a head by Comjuis in the Wellington Cup, run in the Australian and New Zealand record time of 2min 29se<\ Jaloux at the dispersal sale of the late Air G. I). Greenwood's horses, was purchased by Air P, F. Campbell, the former owner of Compris\ A. IT. Eastwood will ride Jaloux in the Cup on Alondav. He has 7st Sib to carry this time. Jaloux, now a six-year-old, is a son of Sutahi, who was by Ely si.'in, winner of the New Zealand Derby and Canterbury Cup from Lady Hester, a granddaughter of ATusket. Egotism, dam of Jaloux, was by Demosthenes from Conceit, by Bonifoirm from Lady Wayward 11., by Ladas.
