WEST COAST GOLD
“EXAGGERATED FIND.” * DUNEDIN, Wednesday. A mining engineer, Mr E. T. Stewart, who has returned from a visit to the West Coast in connection with the rec-ently-reported find of rich gold-bearing country there, states that the reports proved to be greatly exaggerated. Beyond the ground 1 worked for a return of J,7oz. of gold, no prospects of more than ordinary value could be obtained, he stated. Tho locality of the find is about midway between Reefton and Murchison, on the left-hand branch of the Rappahannock Stream. —(P.A.)
