IRISH FREE STATE
OFFICIAL DISMISSED. WITHOUT EXPLANATION. (Received Thursday, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday. Tho “Daily Mail’s” Dublin correspondent says that the Government has dismissed without explanation Colonel David Neligan, head of the detective division of the Civic Guard. Colonel Neligan was one of Mir Michael Collins’ lieutenants against the British, and afterwards an intelligence officer of the Free State Army against De Valera’s Irregulars. Extremist Republicans, who dislike Colonel Neligan, demanded his removal and urged the disbandment of the detective division.
