WAIRARAPA RACES. The Wairarapa Racing Club will hold its sinnmer meeting on .MondayV .and Tuesday, 2nd and 3rd January, 1933, at the beautiful, racecourse-at,.Tnuhere-nikau. Acceptances for the first day close on Friday, 23rd December, at S p.m. For the sixth time in the last eight years. Gordon Richards, the crack jockey. has headed the winning jockeys’ list in England. With 190 winners this season, he brought his total of victories to 1133 since he began riding 12 years ago. Tea Trader is working along in his usual brilliant style at Takanini, and appears to bo better now than ever before. A very speedy colt, he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Railway Handicap on Boxing Day. He has- also classic engagements during the Christmas carnival, including the King’s BJate and the Great Northern Derby, and although the latter event may be beyond him, the King’s Plate is an event- that should be within his compass. The four-year-old filly Idolise, who won a double at Rie,carton on Saturday, had previously displayed a lot of pace, but failed to stay. She has improved by racing and training, and paid two good dividends. Idolise was got by Arrowsmith from Precious, by Sutala from Roden, by Danube—Remission 11, an imported mare by Black Sand. Roden is also the dam of Raineses and Steeton. Remission II was got by Black Sand—Cosette, by Cyl-]ene—-Penitent, by Hermit from Strayshot. Despite the attractive breeding it has been a good producing line so far as this country is concerned. Advice from Taranaki states that Carfex has .been recording some fast gallops on the track at Hawera, and will fulfil his engagements at the Auckland meeting. Judged on his form at the spring meeting held there in November. the Nigger Minstrel gelding is a bit above the ordinary, and his prospects at the coming fixture look particularly bright. Carfex has contested seven races this season, his record being three firsts and four second plaeings, and ho should be worth following in his engagements at Ellerslie.
