Amusing matrimonial ease heard at a far North court the other day. The wife, a hard-featured, middle-aged woman, wanted a separation order bccauso site objected to her husband smoking about the house. The magistrate smiled. “You object to smoking about the house?” he asked. “Can’t a-bear it,” replied the lady. “But,” continued his worship, “if a working man is not to smoke in his own house after tea, where is he to smoke?” “There’s the fowl house,” replied the applicant. (Laughter.). “Yes,” said the magistrate significantly, “and there’s the public house —don’t drive him there.” Turning to the husband, he asked: “What kind of tobacco do you smoke?” “Black plug,” was the reply. “Bather strong stuff,” said his worship, with another smile.' “Why not try the toasted New Zealand? Your wife couldn’t object to that. It’s full of fragrance. Go home. No order.” The magistrate gave valuable advice. Toasted tobacco is best. Practically no nicotine in it.
