A London cable states that the Prime Minister continues to make good progress following the operation to his right eye. The death is announced from London of Mr Charles Billyard Leake, who organised the hospital at Harefield for Australian wounded and was the donor of many artificial limbs. A cablegram from Darwin reports ' the death at Katherine Waters of Mr Jack McLennan, one of the principal characters in “We of the Never Never,’’ descriptive of Australian outback life. At yesterday’s meeting of the MaSterton County Council, the chairman, Cr. W. I. Armstrong, was re-appointed as the council’s representative on the No. 10, Wairarapa Highways District Council for the ensuing three years. The engagement is announced of Miss Kathleen Ruby Green, second daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Green, of Carterton, to Mr Leslie Gilbert W atson, fourth son of Mr A. and the late Mrs Watson, of Christchurch. It is announced in a London cable that the airman, Mr J. A. Mollison, is affianced to Miss Amy Johnson. The engagement was announced in “The Times.” Mollison declared that it is quite true. “Amy and I are engaged,” he said, “I cannot tell more at present. ’ ’
