MOTOR FATALITY
DAMAGES AWARDED. j INVERCARGILL, Monday. After a short retirement damages amounting to £1250, apportioned in the ratio of two-thirds to the widow and one-third to the child, were awarded by a jury in the Supreme Court today to Muriel Ida Smith, of Ashburr ton, a widow, who sought to recover from Lawrence Arthur Eddy, of Invercargill, taxi driver, a sum of £2OOO for the death of her husband. The latter succumbed to injuries received when riding a motor-cycle. He collided with defendant’s motor-car on the evening of 7th July, 1931.—(P.A.)
